Ocean Conservation: Artificial Reef Deployment #2
At the end of November 2022, La Mer Luxe deployed a second artificial reef structure off of the Bali coast with the help of the North Bali Reef Conservation group. Nicknamed the Goddess of the Sea, this structure features a large Hindu mermaid that sits atop the structure for good luck and to offer protection of the reefs and ocean wildlife.
The Goddess of the Sea structure was placed at the bottom of the ocean right by the existing La Mer Luxe reef structure (See Coral Reef Installation blog).
The artificial reefs are placed on the ocean floor where previous reefs have died. The goal is to eventually plant live baby coral on the artificial structure to promote growth and reef reconstruction- also to provide a habitat for marine life.
